What to highlight in your resume
Start with the licence categories you hold and the vehicle you drove most. Describe the route type (city, regional, multi-drop, fixed customers), how deliveries were confirmed (handheld scanner, signatures, delivery app) and what paperwork you handled. If you give numbers, keep them honest: average drops per day over a known period, not a record day.
Skills worth including
- Van or truck driving on multi-drop routes
- Route planning and delivery apps
- Loading, securing and checking parcels
- Delivery paperwork and proof of delivery
Keep only skills you can explain with a real example from work, training or a project.

Experience bullet examples
- Delivered parcels on a daily city round of around 80 drops using a 3.5 t van and a handheld scanner.
- Loaded and secured goods at the depot and checked them against the manifest before leaving.
- Reported delays and failed deliveries to the dispatcher and completed proof-of-delivery records.
If this is your first job
If this is your first driving job, list your licence, how long you have held it and any driving you did in other jobs, such as deliveries for a shop or moving goods between sites. Customer-facing experience from retail or hospitality also counts, because drivers meet customers all day.
What to avoid
Do not list licence categories or vehicles you have never driven, and do not claim a clean driving record if you cannot back it up. Keep document numbers off a public resume.
Check your resume before sending it
- Put the experience most relevant to the vacancy near the top.
- Check dates and contact details, so the employer can reach you and your timeline is consistent.
- Remove numbers, skills or responsibilities you could not explain in an interview.
- Copy text from the exported PDF into a plain editor to confirm it remains readable.
- Read it on mobile and look for broken lines, awkward page breaks and sections that are hard to scan.
